Perma-Fix Awarded Radiological Support Contract

ATLANTA, GA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/09/14 -- Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: PESI) today announced that it was awarded a contract valued at more than $500,000 from Kemron Environmental Services to provide radiation safety, waste characterization, and brokerage services at the Safety Light Superfund Site, located in South Centre Township, PA.

The Safety Light Corp Superfund site is approximately 10 acres and bordered mostly by residential properties and the Susquehanna River. Past activities include the manufacturing of self-illuminated watches and instrument dials; smoke detectors; exit signs and other products containing radioactive materials (such as radium-226, strontium-90, cesium-137, and tritium).

The six month effort will be led by Project Radiation Safety Officer and Vietnam veteran Mark Shaffer, who brings 35 years of experience and has been with the company since 1997.
