Perma-Fix Enters Into SBA Mentor/Protege Program With Aerostar SES LLC

ATLANTA, GA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/03/14 -- Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: PESI) today announced that Perma-Fix and Aerostar SES LLC (ASL) have recently entered into a Small Business Administration (SBA) approved Mentor/Protégé Agreement, with Perma-Fix serving as the mentor and ASL as the Protégé.

ASL currently provides construction and environmental services to several federal agencies which can be applied to programs within the DOE, and offers specific environmental and construction expertise that will translate well to DOE clients and will complement Perma-Fix capabilities.

Perma-Fix plans to mentor ASL through applying the company's current capabilities into the radiological services space. This relationship will increase ASL's chances of long-term sustainability success once they graduate from the SBA 8(a) program. Perma-Fix is committed to support ASL in the development of nuclear/radiological programs as part of the mentoring process, thereby allowing ASL to comply with Department of Energy (DOE) and prime contractor requirements.

Perma-Fix has more than 23 years of experience with a solid reputation for successfully completing challenging nuclear clean-up projects and managing complex radiological and hazardous waste streams for a variety of federal and commercial clients. Through this agreement, Perma-Fix will provide technical assistance and capability development necessary to expand ASL's business base in radiological services; management assistance with business development including identifying and marketing new clients, such as DOE and commercial nuclear; developing security plans and obtaining security clearances; and subcontracting opportunities including assistance in performing prime contracts with the government through joint venture arrangements.

"Perma-Fix and its subsidiaries have a history of serving as a viable mentor through the SBA mentor/protégé program and we plan to greatly contribute and make this a true mutually beneficial partnership," said Dr. Louis F. Centofanti, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We look forward to mentoring Aerostar SES LLC in the nuclear business and contributing to their future successes."

ASL's President and CEO, Mr. Basil Skelton, recognizes the importance of the program as one means of expanding in new markets: "Small businesses must diversify and adapt to market changes and we see the mentor/protégé program as a tool to help ASL with that. We are especially excited to be working with Perma-Fix in this capacity and believe that we will complement each other's strengths to create a successful relationship for all involved."
