Perma-Fix Promotes Andrew Lombardo to Senior Vice President and Manager of Nuclear Services
ATLANTA, GA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/24/13 -- Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: PESI) today announced that Andrew J. Lombardo has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Manager of Nuclear Services. Mr. Lombardo previously served as Vice President of Technical Services within the Company's Technical Services Group (Health Physics) for over six years. In his new role, Mr. Lombardo will oversee the entire Nuclear Services segment, including health physics, which is being combined with other service groups within Perma-Fix. Mr. Lombardo will report to James Blankenhorn, Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Lombardo has over 30 years of experience in radiation protection/health physics and the management of radioactive material sites including radiological engineering, hazardous and radiological waste characterization, project management, decontamination and decommissioning, and environmental remediation. As Vice President of Technical Services, Mr. Lombardo was responsible for overseeing radiological services such as NUREG-1757 based decommissioning support and MARSSIM-based remediation support and final status surveys to government and commercial clients in project settings including: facility decommissioning remedial actions, field investigations, and ongoing radiological program support. He has overseen numerous projects involving the DOE, DOD and USACE remedial actions as well as commercial (test reactors) and industrial D&D projects. Mr. Lombardo has overseen the Company's instrumentation laboratory that maintains 5,000 radiological and industrial hygiene instruments for rental and sale and a laboratory that provides commercial instrument repair and calibration services. Mr. Lombardo is also an industry expert in the characterization and management of naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) and technologically enhanced NORM (TENORM). Mr. Lombardo has a Master's Degree in Health Physics from the University of Pittsburgh, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Sciences from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is a Certified Health Physicist.
