ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKETWIRE) -- 02/05/13 -- Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: PESI) today announced it has been awarded a contract from ATOX Co., Ltd, which is funded by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, to assist with "Integrated Dose Reduction Planning" toward decontamination of TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (NPS). ATOX, Co., Ltd. is responsible for the project aimed at planning comprehensive dose reduction measures to control radiation exposure of workers during the removal of spent nuclear fuel and fuel debris during the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi NPS. Perma-Fix was one of six companies worldwide selected to serve as a technical advisor. Decontamination experts and Certified Health Physicists from Perma-Fix will be providing technical approaches and plans to decontaminate and reduce the radiological dose located in the refueling area (including walls, ceiling and gantry crane) of the Unit 2 Reactor Building.

Dr. Louis F. Centofanti, Chairman and CEO, commented, "Our competence in nuclear services and waste management is presenting opportunities to offer services to Japanese companies and US subcontractors, to assist Japan as it continues to move forward in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. We are proud to be selected to assist in this important mission."

ATOX, Co., Ltd., executor of the Integrated Dose Reduction Planning project, is a pioneering company that has conducted decontamination, radiation control and waste treatment operations at nuclear facilities since 1957.
