Perma-Fix Environmental Services Announces Win of Major Subcontract at the Department of Energy Hanford Site
ATLANTA, June 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. (Nasdaq: PESI) ("Perma-Fix") today announced that it has been awarded a major subcontract through its East Tennessee Materials & Energy Corporation (M&EC) subsidiary for waste management and facility operations at the Department of Energy (DOE) Hanford, Washington Site. M&EC is a small business team member of the CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Company (CHPRC) team led by CH2M Hill Constructors, Inc. that has been awarded the prime contract by the DOE for the Plateau Remediation Contract (PRC) at Hanford. The contract awarded to the CHPRC team is a cost-plus award-fee contract valued at approximately $4.5 billion over ten years (a five-year base period with the option to extend it for another five years).
The Hanford PRC is part of the DOE's Hanford Central Plateau acquisition strategy that includes waste management and facility disposition on the Central Plateau. The Central Plateau is undergoing cleanup from decades of plutonium production in support of the nation's defense. M&EC will provide its waste facility operations expertise to support CHPRC in its mission to perform remediation, clean-up and waste management activities for DOE.
