Perma-Fix Announces Eighth Annual Mixed Waste Treatment Forum

ATLANTA, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. (Nasdaq: PESI) today announced it will hold its eighth annual Mixed Waste Treatment Forum December 15-18, 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee. This year's conference theme is "Real Innovators ... Solving our Nation's Waste Challenges," which focuses on innovations in the nuclear waste management arena. The renewed interest in nuclear power and the possible return to reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel within the United States have focused national attention on solutions for these complex waste streams. Perma-Fix works closely with waste generators to find unique solutions for many of these problematic wastes resulting from nuclear power production and nuclear weapons development.

The three day Mixed Waste Treatment Forum provides a venue for many of the nation's leading waste management experts to share lessons and experiences in dealing with complex waste stream clean-up projects. This year's conference brings together an exciting lineup of speakers to discuss innovations in mixed waste treatment, regulatory issues, and how to cope with competing priorities and shrinking budgets. The third day of the forum will include tours of Perma-Fix's two Tennessee treatment facilities.

Dr. Louis F. Centofanti, Perma-Fix chairman and chief executive officer said, "Our Treatment Forum continues to gain popularity each year and we will feature nearly 200 experts this year from both the government and commercial sectors. Their combined experiences in dealing with the most challenging nuclear waste management issues will be invaluable to the industry as we continue to look for new treatment solutions to better serve the environment and our customers."
